Simple statements for simple minds!
My only question is: Did I go to far?
I mean, how do people become so dense (or do they just never learn critical thinking skills)?

Simple tax statement
Food tax is the only tax that some people ever pay.
End of discussion.

rant and response on the flip . . .
Good god! How must it be to have such simple thoughts? Life must be so easy that way!
Anyway, back to my question: Did I go to far? Here is my response:
David G. Buck says, "Food tax is the only tax that some people ever pay."
If only it were that simple.
Unfortunately, for those who hold such narrow, "end of discussion" viewpoints, I realize any argument on the moral repugnancy of the sales tax on food, would be utterly futile. Therefore, I will try simple logic: removing one painfully regressive tax will not prevent anyone from paying taxes. We pay taxes on almost everything we need: food, utilities, shelter, clothes, transportation, etc.
Taxing basic necessities for survival is completely antithetical to any claim of being a moral and just society. We might as well tax the air we breathe.
So, did I go to far? Did I go so far into the realm of critical thought, that any of those with Mr. Buck's capacity for logic will be left in an agape stupor? I tried to dumb it down as much as possible. I hoping to crack some thick skulls.
It's painful to see the decline of your own species, isn't it?
If your curious, some context on the situation can be found here.
The gist of it: Utah is facing a one billion dollar surplus (on a budget of less than 10 billion!) and our Republican (but surprisingly, sometimes quite pragmatic) governor would like to eliminate the regressive sales tax on unprepared food. Our repub. legislators, and apparently David G. Buck, aren't so sure . . .
