Wing-nut Rep. Mike Rogers (R-MI-08) is
appearing in public to take questions from his constituents. If you live anywhere in the greater Lansing area, I would encourage you to come out and drill the neo-fascist on his continuing support for the fraudulent war, torture, and cuts in student loans and other poverty programs in order to maintain tax cuts for those making more than $225,000 per year.
He is a true bleiver Bush-ite who needs a reality check from his middle-class and below constituency. The people who are living and dying and paying for the $6 billion per month fiasco of a war this guy is cheerleading for.
MI-08 is gerrymandered to the extreme, but this guy is nuts, and the dems have a chance to unseat him this year. He voted in favor of torture right before Bush rolled over and played dead for McCain's anti-torture legislation. Enough said.
Here are the stops.
Williamston, Friday, Jan. 27, 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., at the Cappuccino Café, 127 W. Grand River Ave.
Holt, Friday, Jan. 27, 3:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m., at 2074 Aurelius Rd., Holt.
You will not be alone. And if you want to come but don't feel like thinking up your own questions, try one of these:
Why did only you and Peter Hoekstra vote against the McCain amendment that outlawed torture by U.S. peronnel, when the rest of the Michigan delegation, both Republican and Democrat, saw this as an important step in our foreign policy? Follow-up: How can the U.S. stand for torture and win the so-called "war on terror?"
Do you support attacks in other countries that kill alleged terrorists and civilians alike? Why should Americans believe that some guilty people were killed (without any trial), when there is no evidence produced to support the claim? Isn't blowing up innocent civilians exactly the ideology we are supposed to be fighting against? Aren't the families of the civilians killed very likely candidates to become "terrorists?"
Why do you argue for the connection between Saddam Hussein and al-Qaeda when any connection between the two was created by the American invasion? Iraq is now a terrorist training ground, when it was not before the war.
Why have you made no public accounting to this community that your beliefs about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq were wrong? If you blame the intelligence you were given by the administration for drawing your conclusions, why have you not insisted on a fair and open investigation of the misrepresentations that were given by the administration to Congress to induce congressional authorization for the war? If an investigation showed that the administration misled Congress, is that not grounds for impeachment? Do you support the Conyers initiatives to appoint a Select committee to investigate these questions? If not, why not?
Why do you support tax cuts for wealthy Americans, where most households benefit a little but the top 1% that have more money than they know what to do with get the lion's share? If you believe that wealthy Americans will create jobs here in the U.S., what evidence can you give to those of us who are skeptical?
Hope to see you Friday.
