A quick reading of
this MSNBC poll and analysis can bring one to only one conclusion: The American people are sick of Bush and the Republicans and are looking for some leadership and balls from the Democrats to offer an alterative and stand up against the Republican menace. Bush's numbers are abysmal in practically every category and yet, because of the Democrats timidity, we have not been able to get Americans to see the Democrats as a viable alternative.
This quote by a typical American in the article clearly illustrates this point:
"I was watching the news ... and I heard nothing from the Democrats," said Dez Jackson, 20, a cashier in Greenville, S.C., who was sharply critical of the president in the survey. "What are they, afraid to speak up?"
Christ, what's it going to take to convince the Democratic leadership that opposing this President is not only the right, moral thing to do, but the politically smart thing to do?
It seems the Democratics in Washington are suffering the same affliction that a battered wife suffers from years of being beaten. They have internalized their abusers false epistemology and have become timid victims, scared to death to fight back.
Looking at these numbers, any idiot can see that Republican policies and politicians are
abysmal failures in the eyes of the American public:
Countering the 43% who approved of Bush's performance, 54% disapproved -- figures in line with results from other national polls in the last two weeks
They also don't want to keep going in the Wrong direction:
Q: Do you think things in this country are generally going in the right direction or are they seriously off on the wrong track?
Wrong track: 61%
Right direction: 32%
Don't know: 7%
The Republican Congress doesn't fare any better:
Just 35% of respondents said they approved of Congress' performance; 55% disapproved. And Democrats were favored, 46% to 37%, when registered voters were asked which party they intended to support for Congress in November.
Come on Democrats. The Republicans are ripe and ready to be thrown out of power. All's it's going to take is the courage to stand up to them and the wisdom to offer a alternative vision that actually puts the common good ahead of the monied interests.
To put it another way: STAND UP AND FIGHT FOR CHRIST SAKE.
