There can be no denying this place has served as the funnel for an extraordinary amount of progressive content on the Internet. dailyKos is not only the largest political blog, it has been the most progressive of the large blogs. This fact has resulted from the community itself, and not from any heavy hand from Markos.
In fact, Markos has chimed in that he sees this site as a Democratic blog, as opposed to a progressive one. Markos has ambitions for the Party and is pragmatic in this regard.
But, many of us understand Samuel Alito to pose a grave threat to civil liberties, and we are being patronized by prominent Democrats that we need to "keep our powder dry" for later. And, while not as patronizing, Markos now re-defends the Democratic Party as an institution, post-Alito.
This has me wondering: are things about to change? Is the Democratic acquiescence to Alito combined with Markos' partisan pragmatism going to drive away the rebellious soul of this place? I'll take a poll.
