I bought 30 new stamps today - and I wrote 15 of the 200+ handwritten letters I will be sending to each democratic member of the house.
I am writing about the outrageous criminal behavior committed by the president in violation of the fourth amendment. Below in a partial excerpt of my previous diary on the topic. I would love to have company in this project. Useless action? Maybe, but at least I can pretend a representative democracy exists for a litle while.
I am sending a handwritten notice containing two citations:
Congressional Oath of Office
I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.
Amendment IV - Search and seizure.
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
The note will be a reminder of what they have sworn to defend and how imperiled the constitution is. Accompanying this note is a single square of toilet paper upon which these words are carefully written - "US Constitution - Please don't Treat Me Like I'm Disposable"
This may have no effect but I know I am writing for Americans who believe as I do, that our constitution is in danger and I feel much for frightened now that I did after 9/11 )...and I'm a new yorker.
