For the last twenty years the Democratic Party and Democrats have been under attack for our supposed lack of understanding of national security policy and family values. I've had it; I'm done taking any flak on these issues. The Speaker of the House protected a sitting Congressmen from investigation when he knew he was improperly sending emails to a page. Pages are generally under the age of eighteen, this one was sixteen.
Yesterday, the same Speaker issued a letter which kind of, sort of supports my opponent for a seat on the House Armed Services Committee. This is a position that my opponent is not prepared for nor has the background to understand. My opponent has continually stated, through his campaign manager, that he will support the President without question and follow the Republican Party leadership.
Let's summarize: Hastert has turned a blind eye to sexual harassment in his own party, he is supporting an unqualified candidate for a position in a time of war that directly deals with the oversight of that war. If this is family values and national security we are all in a lot of trouble.
Hastert should immediately step down as Speaker and call for a formal investigation of the events surrounding former Congressman Foley. As a Veteran, I put my life where my mouth is and served this country. Let's see if Hastert and Lamborn have the guts to do the same.
