Update [2006-10-11 16:47:14 by Tom Ball]: CNN Now reporting the plane could be that of Yankee Pitcher Cory Lidle.
My wife called me up only a few minutes ago saying that something has crashed into a building just a few blocks away from my Kids school. They go to school at 78th and York Avenue.
The crash according to CNN is at 72nd and York.
Seems to be a residential building and the craft that crashed might be either a small plane or a helicopter.
More as it comes.
Update [2006-10-11 14:59:50 by Tom Ball]: CNN Now reporting that it is likely a helicopter. Highly doubtful it had anything to do with terrorism. Seems like a horrific accident.
Update [2006-10-11 15:5:25 by Tom Ball]: Now saying it was in the middle floors of the apartment building and that it is a 'multi-engine' small plane -- not a helicopter. but 'multi-engine' to me implies that it is not the smallest plane in the world.
Update [2006-10-11 15:5:25 by Tom Ball]: Hit at the 10th floor of a 20 story building. It has no 'strategic' value associated with it. It is a residential building. Again, No terrorism suspected.
Update [2006-10-11 15:35:22 by Tom Ball]: FBI Says, "No reason to believe it has anything to do with terrorism."
Update [2006-10-11 16:7:5 by Tom Ball]: Also said a witness saw the plane 'doing tricks' in the air -- which probably meant it was in distress mechanically. And that it actually hit at the 36th floor of a 50 storty building.
