Today Congressman Chris Shays (R-CT), currently on the losing end of a tight re-election fight against Democrat Diane Farrell in Connecticut's 4th district, added another nail to his impending coffin when he defended the refusal of House Speaker Dennis Hastert to resign,
saying that "Dennis Hastert didn't kill anybody," referring to Ted Kennedy's infamous 1969 Chappaquiddick accident. To add more fuel to the fire, Shays added, "I know the speaker didn't go over a bridge and leave a young person in the water, and then have a press conference the next day."
So now this moron, who prides himself on being a "moderate" and "gentle" Northeastern Republican, has instead completely shattered whatever of that perception remained thanks to his idiotic statement. Shays should have heeded the advice of the quote, "Better to remain quiet and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and erase all doubt."
