QUESTION: How many candidates have the guts to run on global warming - in the home of the auto industry?
ANSWER: One. Nancy Skinner.
It's called leadership. Nancy Skinner, the Democratic Candidate in Michigan's 9th Congressional District, is in a dead heat race with incumbent Congressman, Joe Knollenberg, who has been hostile on global warming. He is an "Inconvenient Congressman" and he is about to be upset by a challenger who has spent her career as a passionate advocate for progress on global warming.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has filmed a TV commercial to help Nancy achieve this goal. We need to raise $200,000 to fully air this ad. It goes up on Friday and we need your help to keep it up until the election.
WATCH THE KENNEDY SPOT ON GLOBAL WARMING AND ADD YOUR NAME TO "THE INCONVENIENT CONGRESSMAN" POSTER.
Al Gore's movie "AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH" told us that global warming is a planetary crisis and we must act immediately. JOE KNOLLENBERG - pushed through the "Knollenberg Amendment" in 2001 that prohibited the federal government from doing anything to prevent global warming and he consistently stands with the oil companies. He maintained just last week that the science on global warming "is still fuzzy".
JOE KNOLLENBERG IS AN "INCONVENIENT CONGRESSMAN" AND HE NEEDS TO GO! THIS AD WILL HELP US DO JUST THAT.
We need $200,000 - that's just 200 people who care enough about global warming to contribute $1000, 2000 who will contribute $100, or 4000 who will contribute $50 - to help us carry this race over the finish line!
We are creating an "Inconvenient Congressman" poster that will provide a keepsake for the people who helped us take on this challenge.
Just go to ActBlueto make a contribution online or download a contribution form and mail it in. Then send your collage entry to cindy@skinnerforcongress.com. It can be a photo, a slogan, a website link, a dedication or whatever you can imagine. You can buy multiple boxes, get your colleagues to join in and buy a block - whatever we need to do to get a leader on global warming in Congress and get rid of an enemy of the environment.
Knollenberg has begun his attacks on Skinner issuing a press release accusing her of teaming up with Kennedy, Arianna Huffington and Laurie David to "Destroy the Big Three" because she discussed "The Detroit Project" on CNN. Nothing could be further from the truth. Kennedy and Skinner talk about LEADERSHIP to help the auto industry create the next generation of fuel efficient vehicles to do something about global warming AND help reduce our oil dependence.
Don't let Knollenberg "Swift-Boat" Nancy Skinner on global warming.
