I promised to remind the netroots community, when the general election got nearer, about the last two opportunities in the 2006 election cycle to
shift control of the Kansas State Board of Education away from religious fundamentalists. The Board has ten members. Five are up for re-election or replacement in 2006. Only one pro-science member (believes in Evolution) was in that group, and she won her primary.
Two of the Creationist incumbents were replaced with pro-Science candidates in the primaries. But two others won their primaries and are running for re-election.
One of the two challengers running in the November general election against a Creationist incumbent is
Don Weiss:

The invaluable Diane Silver provided a link to the web site of the other pro-science candidate, Jack Wempe:

Remember, these folks serve a 4-year term; twice as long as a Congressman. These races are important.
Those of you who feel the Scopes Monkey Trial was supposed to be over in 1925, pick a candidate, either candidate, and cough up a few bucks?
I salute you with my opposable thumbs.
