I am fortunate to live in an area that gets AirAmerica radio. Unfortunately as a cost to do this I must occassionally listen to Al Franken throw a little unwarranted praise at Jim Leach.
Mr. Fanken, since you won't acknowledge my emails, I am going on Kos to ask you openly to CUT IT OUT!! JIM LEACH IS NOT A MODERATE!
On yesterday's show Al Franken for about the millionth time takes it upon himself to, I guess, prove he is an independent thinker by saying "In a debate last night, Republican Jim Leach called for a timetable for withdrawal from Iraq. Jim Leach is a pretty moderate Republican"
No, Mr. Franken, Jim Leach is not a "good Republican". Jim Leach is a Republican congressman in a very Democratic district who has been able to keep his job with little pronouncements like this. Leach will not do anything to back up this statement. Do you honestly think Jim Leach will be knocking on King George's door tomorrow to demand a timetable? No, Jim Leach will do exactly what he does after any of his so-called liberal pronouncements - nothing,
And, Mr. Franken, don't tell me Leach votes with liberals sometimes. That is yet another trick. Like his vote against going into Iraq. Votes were counted and when it was determined the GOP did not need Leach's vote he was allowed to cast a vote that looks good in his district. Answer me this what has Leach done to back up that vote?
You may point out his cosponsoring a bill on war profiteering and I would say he wouldn't be co-sponsoring against the wishes of his party. If there was a chance it would go anyplace (and it won't because the house leadership will block it) Leach would back off.
Mr. Franken, we need to get this fossil out of congress. He hurts us with votes for the Bush budget and medicare part-D and so on.
Mr. Franken, the least you could do is not hurt Dave Loebsacks chances. Dave is running a great race is actually leading in the polls.
Dave has always been for withdrawing from Iraq. And he is for fixing medicare part-D, and he is for a raise in minimum wage and universal health care and unions. I could go on and on. The point is we need Dave Loebsack not Jim Leach.

Kossacks - can you help me get Al Franken to see the light? Email him from his website and tell him to praise Dave Loebsack, not Jim Leach:

And of course I will ask for a bit of help for Dave. He has gotten no help from the party and yet he has forged a lead against one of the most formidible opponents in the land.
So if you could, lend us a hand:
