We all know Ohio played a pivotal role in the '04 Presidential elections. This year Dems are doing well with top of the ticket races.
We're down 11 seats in the Ohio House, but it's about to change. With strong caucus operations, a favorable climate, strong candidates, and the good top of the ticket races, we're looking to make substantial gains this cycle and set up the play to take the chamber in `08, when 20 Republicans are term-limited out.
Here are the candidates that need your support to turn the Buckeye state blue.
More on why that's important, long-term, below.
We need to get the chamber before the post-2010 redistricting, when Republicans could make two competitive Congressional seats unwinnable for Democrats. As much as top of the ticket Democrats, like Ted Strickland, are "trickling down" support this year, within a few cycles, the roles will be reversed when the state legislature draws the Congressional district map.
Here's Thomas Suddes' column in the Plain Dealer last month focusing on redistricting in Ohio.
This is another example of how state legislative Democrats and the DLCC are working for long-term Democratic success.
Beyond top-tier battleground chambers like the Iowa House and Senate, the Maine House and Senate, the Montana House and Senate, and and the Oregon House, we're also looking at seats we can pick up to set up the play for the chamber before 2010.
Like the Ohio House.
And the New Hampshire Senate.
And the New York Senate.
