Last week, the
Washington Whispers column at USNews.com reported that Jack Abramoff has become so chatty that they've set the guy up with his own desk, and the feds are so pleased with his cooperation that they're hoping to keep him jailed nearby in Washington (no doubt one of those beautifully kept resort-like 'prisons').
Yesterday, Blogswarm at TPM Cafe posted Justice Delayed, reporting on rumours out of the Justice Department that 3 indictments had been prepared, but were being put on hold until after election day.
WTF.
Sorry, had to get that out. I'm here in Montana, with polls that have Jon Tester and Conrad Burns running neck-in-neck in one of the most heated races for the Senate and the U.S. Justice Department is holding back on releasing indictments until after election day?!
Blogswarm asks:
The question now is have Bush and Rove interferred in an ongoing Justice Department investigation because of a political agenda?
California 04 voters have to be just as frustrated. Doolittle, and 8-term Congressman and member of the House leadership, has refused to return the $14,000 given to him by Abramoff, saying that the money has been "ethically given and ethically taken" (hmmm, sounds a little like Burns' response to questions regarding Abramoff).
Here's to hoping that high-powered Democrats - and bloggers and the media - cry holy hell to this kind of partisan pandering by the U.S Justice Department. I firmly believe in the power of DKos. Help get those indictments handed down NOW!
