Rush Limbaugh startled listeners earlier today with the accusation that Franklin D. Roosevelt, 32nd President of the United States, was "acting - parading around in a wheelchair", putting on a "pathetic" and exaggerated show of being disabled for purely political effect.
Additional cause for controversy: Limbaugh was filmed pretending as if his legs were useless and floppy while delivering the radio address.
However, shortly after this program segment, Mr. Limbaugh apologized in a direct and powerful statement to his radio audience:
"So I will bigly, hugely admit that I was wrong - If I do in fact, decide that I, in fact, am wrong, as determined by a physical exam personally conducted upon the President by myself on my premises sometime within the next 72 hours excepting meal hours, then certainly I will apologize to Mr. Roosevelt."
Listener support has been unanimously supportive if not entirely unified as to the reasons. Blake Jasper, dittohead from Detroit Michigan, expressed disbelief at the media attention: "He said 'acting'! He never said 'faked'! Do you know the difference between these two words?"
Nancy Bigapple of Lawrence Kansas, gave words to the feelings of many Americans - "He apologized - in the very next segment! What else do you want of the man? I don't think he's had an opportunity to be fairly heard."
