We all, by now, know about George Allen's goons roughing up one of his constituents for having the temerity to ask Allen a question. And we know that there are rumors of George Allen's abuse - verbal or otherwise - of not only bullying brown folks, but also women.
So I'm thinking, you know, if he thinks nothing of thugging out on Mike Stark, and maybe thought nothing of spitting on his first wife as well as being abusive toward his sister - would George Allen's henchmen rough up a woman "heckler" at one of his events?
The way I see it, Mike Stark did a good thing today. He - once again - brought to the fore issues that reflect poorly on our fine senator. Mike's known for this sort of stuff, and I think he's awesome for being willing to put himself out there.
He's also probably recognized by Allen's staffers by now, which is why I imagine they wrestled him down before he even got a chance to ask his question. Which is not a justification for what Allen's thugs did by any stretch of the imagination. After all, Mike was a constituent who had a question relevant to Allen's character, and we all know that the Republicans pride themselves on being sterling of character.
I figure Mike'll probably be tied up the next couple of days talking to the media and pressing charges.
So what about the rest of us Virginians? I know that I, as a Virginian, would like to hear George Allen answer the questions Mike keeps posing, because unless I'm mistaken, Allen has yet to answer those questions. So maybe it's up to us to take up what Mike started a long time ago, and, in these last few days before the election, see if we can get some answers from Felix at his next couple of appearances.
I'm pretty keenly interested in this whole thing, because I am a Virginian. But I am also a woman who has suffered physical and emotional abuse from a husband during my first marriage. So the matter of possible domestic assault - and spitting on anyone constitutes assault - hits close to home with me. So to speak. So I, for one, would like to know what Mr. Allen has to say about the rumors of his assaulting his first wife.
I have to confess, I'm also curious as to whether all Allen's constituents who don't toe his line are subject to being wrestled to the ground by Allen's goons. I wonder: are women exempt from abuse by Allen's henchmen?
So I had a look at Allen's schedule for the next couple of days, and lookie here, he's gonna be in NoVa tomorrow for three separate events. By all appearances, these events are his last before the election.

I'm quite seriously considering going to the first event (I'm a stay-at-home mom and have kidly school pickups that conflict with the latter two events). George Allen is accountable to his constituents (no matter that he apparently thinks otherwise), and by god, I'm a constituent, and Mr. Allen has some questions to answer.
I'd like it very much, given what happened to Mike today, if I wasn't the only liberal at this event. It'd be awesome if some other Fairfax or Loudoun kossacks could make it to one or all of the events - preferably with cameras or camcorders. (I am 7 months pregnant and will have a two year-old with me, and don't know if I can manage baby, belly, and camera.) I admit that, though I am seriously considering going even if no one else shows up, I would prefer not to be alone in hostile and potentially abusive territory.
I'm not trying to mount up a violent protest, god knows. I mean, come on, I'm gonna have a baby with me, and I had enough of being thrown to the ground by assholes in my first marriage. I don't want to incite anything at all. I don't even want to protest. I'd simply like to ask my senator some questions, that's all. That's all Mike was doing, and that's all I'd like to do.
So is anyone up for it? Anyone willing to meet up with me and put some questions to our esteemed senator? And even if you can't make it, tell me, if you're a Virginian: what questions would you like Mr. Allen to answer? Assuming I don't chicken out - I will, after all, have a child with me, and nobody wants to get knocked down or arrested when she's toting around a two year-old - tell me what should I ask our own Felix?
(If you're planning to go, would you please let me know? I might chicken out if I can't find anyone else to go. I might not, but if I don't hear from anyone, after I talk to Mr. Poppyseed about this, I might wind up not going, and I don't want to stiff anybody who decides to go, just on the basis of my thinking I might be the only (D) there.)
