I'm a writer for a small weekly newspaper. From time to time I throw in events taking place on various university campuses.
This is one of my entries for this week:
Gen. Colin L. Powell, USA (Ret.) will be the featured speaker at the [institution] School of Business annual "Celebration of Success" dinner. Powell will speak on "Diplomacy: Persuasion, Trust and Values" at the June 6 event, ignoring, of course, that he lied to the United Nations about Saddam Hussein possessing weapons of mass destruction, and ignoring his role in the US invasion of Iraq, which has led to tens of thousands of Iraqi deaths and the deaths of more than 1,600 Americans (/irony mode now off)
I expect the last part will get edited, but one of my colleagues said the title of the speech should be enough for people to get the irony.
Gee, it felt good to get that off my chest.
