Rasmussen apparently is about to release their latest CT-Sen poll (currently behind subscription wall). Very bad news.
Rasmussen, if you recall, is one of the pollsters that had Lamont down within the margin of error lately (as distinguished from Quinnipiac and SurveyUSA, which had him down double digits). Well, if you believe the diarist on Mydd, who apparently has a subscription, Rasmussen now has Lamont down 10, 50-40. That's almost live boy-dead girl time. Not quite, but almost.
I don't know about you all, but personally I think Lamont has blown this race. He's kind of a newcomer, but his people were supposed to be good. I think they've been following a crazy strategy that involved no TV ads for a month after the primary, followed up with some cutesy "unusual" ads that have had little impact. Lamont had this race in the palm of his hand, but had to spend big and hit hard to win. He chose not to.
It's not over yet, for sure. But something has to change. If I were him, I'd trade in his senior staff for some veteran mudslingers and get going on the nasty stuff. It's his one last ace in the hole, since Lord knows Joe is vulnerable on just about everything.
