RedState seems to have no one capable of providing due diligence for its diary entries, so I thought that perhaps we here at Kos could lend them a helping hand. Kind of like taking the mower over to the neighbors who never mow their lawn, and having 30 neighbors walk their lot while they're on vacation, cutting grass and bagging the various dead animals and beer bottles that are hidden down in the weeds.
Today's John Birch moment comes to us courtesy of Dan McLaughlin, and I'll pick up the story below the fold:

Someone mentioned the link might help!
Dan provides us with the following morsel.
From: Cammisa, Vincent [mailto: VAC@cbsnews.com]
Sent: Wednesday, October 04, 2006 5:34 PM
To: Internships
Subject: Perverted Internship Program
Please send me information on how I can become an intern for some perverted, phony family-values Congressman. I know there's no shortage of Republican hypocrites on the Hill, so please rush me the info ASAP. And don't forget to keep covering-up your dirty little secrets, it makes great fodder for your enemies.
Sincerely,
Vinny Cammisa
Continuing on here, most of us with even minimal journalistic training would read that and ask ourselves the following: 1)Who the hell is Vinny Cammisa, and why should I or anybody else care? 2)Does Vinny really exist, and getting back to 1, is he the bureau chief for CBS's Washington office, or is he on the custodial staff, e-mailing on his lunchbreak? 3)If he is a real person, why did he send this e-mail to "Internships"? That should be in a subject line, shouldn't it? 4)Why would somebody in a news division hyphenate "covering-up"? In my personal experience, editors are some of the most grammatically challenged people on the planet, but that looks odd, even for an editor. And unless Vinny is a pseudonym for Katie Couric, I can't imagine a newsperson making that sort of error.
So let us please help RedState out here. Dan is firmly convinced that this e-mail shows "liberal bias" in the media, yet again. I sent an e-mail off to the address offered, just to see if it would return with a "delivery failure" notification. It hasn't yet, so maybe the e-mail address exists somewhere. Anybody here got a CBS staff directory? Dan needs our help. He's conservative. He's an idiot. But even idiots need their lawns mowed from time to time.
