Every American knows of the sacrifices our fighting men and women have made during the invasion and occupation of Iraq. Yet there is another group whose contributions to the war effort have gone largely unnoticed... until now. I am proud to invite Daily Kos readers to the worldwide premiere of Part I of the new 5-part documentary, The War of the Words: The Story of the 101st Fighting Keyboarders.

In part I, "The Drums of War: Summer 2002-March 19, 2003," we look back on an America at the cusp of a great change. In the wake of the destruction of the World Trade Center and the subsequent invasion of Afghanistan, hundreds of ordinary Americans with names like Glenn Reynolds, Jonah Goldberg, and Ann Coulter found themselves at a crossroads of history. Armed with only keyboards, righteous Republican anger, and chronic untreatable logorrhea, they helped set the nation on the path to another, even more glorious invasion: Iraq, the mother of all cakewalks.
In my last diary entry, I brought you the trailer and told you a bit about the project. Now, on each of the next four Thursdays, I'll debut another chapter in the saga of the 101st Fighting Keyboarders, as they rise from obscurity to self-styled godhood:
- II. Mission Accomplished: March 20-May 1, 2003 (debuting October 12). With the 101st Fighting Keyboarders on their side, if not actually at their side, the troops of the Coalition of the Willing mount a lightning invasion of Baghdad.
- III. Well, Maybe Not Accomplished Exactly, So Much As--Look, Just Shut Up, Okay?: May 2, 2003-January 18, 2004 (debuting October 19). Putting Iraq back together turns out to be a bit harder than invading it, as the 101st Fighting Keyboarders move to the next phase of their offensive offensive: downplaying the importance of WMDs.
- IV. Democracy Threatens: January 19-November 2, 2004 (debuting October 26). President George W. Bush faces the greatest threat of his administration: democratic elections.
- V. Clear Skies Ahead: November 3, 2004-Present (debuting November 2). Their President's reelection secure, the 101st Fighting Keyboarders reflect on their accomplishments and look forward at what will surely be a bright future for the people of Iraq.
So go have a look and report back here with your impressions (and a recommendation, if you feel so inclined). And keep an eye on this space for the next four weeks to watch the saga unfold.
