I just want to let you guys know I'm sitting here at a public net terminal in Penn station; a little cafe with two bill-operated kiosks.
The guy on the other one is a soldier in full camo.
They have been here since Sept. 11th and are looking more and more bored every day.
At first they were sharp officer types; models practically.
Increasingly the guys are out of shape and browsing aimlessly among magazines, etc.
(I've only noted them wolf-whistling at girls once.)
I'm not knocking them, nor do I blame them.
And congrats to them for no incidents.
They have a far better record than I do of not getting into spats in this station.
While I'm glad they are here rather than overseas, I'm personally quite bored of having military on my daily commute route.
In place of police.
It's just flat out unamerican, and we must never forget that.
