As I read the diaries on dKos today about Rove's obscene, vile remarks,
a word popped into my mind that captures the current Rove/Bush/Limbaugh/Coulter/Hannity
approach to political speech and civil discourse.
"Hate-riotism". Practiced by "Hate-riots". Rhymes with "patriot" but starts
with "hate". Rolls off the tongue. Describes these people in thee to five
syllables better than any other single word I've encountered.
More on the flip....
If you ever think you've had an original thought, Google will quickly
dispell you of all pride. I Googled
'hateriotism' and came up with the
following from a musician and his notes for work called
'With Love
From America.' I have no idea if the music is any good or
even if it has been recorded. I am more interested in getting a new
word into circulation, especially if it will help, even in some small
way, bring and end to the neo-fascist Republican party.

The musician defines of 'hate-riotism' more eloquently than I could.
He is quoted below.
(I prefer a hypen after hate; it puts the emphasis on the first syllable.)
I seem to have invented a word (from what my readers have told me, anyway,
and I didn't find any prior uses of it online): "Hateriotism". When you make
up an idealogically cloudy word like that one, you have to define it fast before
someone else makes it mean the opposite. So as far as I'm concerned, HATERIOTISM is the current American trend of trivializing all cultures that are not our own, demonizing those who dissent from our opinions as "unpatriotic" or worse,
"un-American," and allowing fear of this we don't understand to flare into anger
and hatred, rather than attempting to reconcile other lifestyles and points of view. HATERIOTISM is, simply, using everything we see, hear and read as an excuse to
attack others. It is believing whatever we are told, following orders blindly,
and allowing no possibility that we may be wrong. All this under the pretense
of doing one's "patriotic duty." How did American become so un-American?

Use and spread the word. Rove and Bush and the Republican party are NOT patriotic, they are hate-riotic.
