George McGovern is a voice of reason, a war hero, and a man of honor. We have to have his back when the Congressional Progressive Caucus meets with him, because we ALL know how this is going to be spun out of control in the press. They will try the old "look they're doing what we said they would, they're trying to lose this just like they lost Vietnam". What we have to remind them of is that both NIXON and KISSINGER knew that the war was lost, and cynically pursued their "Peace With Honor" plan, which didn't accomplish anything except assure more of our kids died, and that we were stuck there when the country did collapse in pure and total chaos.

LINCOLN, Neb. - George McGovern, the former senator and Democratic presidential candidate, said Thursday that he will meet with more than 60 members of Congress next week to recommend a strategy to remove U.S. troops from Iraq by June.
If Democrats don't take steps to end the war in Iraq soon, they won't be in power very long, McGovern told reporters before a speech at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
"I think the Democratic leadership is wise enough to know that if they're going to follow the message that election sent, they're going to have to take steps to bring the war to a conclusion," he said.
McGovern will present his recommendations before the Congressional Progressive Caucus, a 62-member group led by Reps. Lynn Woolsey and Barbara Lee.
"The best way to reduce this insurgency is to get the American forces out of there," McGovern said. "That's what's driving this insurgency."

We know this will be a lighting rod moment, and we've got be able to direct the heat right back at the policies that put us all in this perdicament in the first place - not having a exit strategy. I think it will be a good thing to have the man's input, God knows there are plenty of boomers who wish that their brother was still around, and that perhaps had McGovern been elected they would have larger Thanksgiving gatherings every year. This is going to be a test of strength for our side, at least in the press. We have to make it so THIS time around we get it right, that no more kids die out of a stubborn allegiance to a failed policy. We won the fight, now begins the battle.
