The Spin is In. They say with all the "conservative" Democrats elected, that the voters were pulling their punches. Okay, let's Zen this.
From Fux News to Rush Limberger, to ex-boy genius Rove, the spin is all about how this election was not a real referendum on Bush and his Boys. Now, we can argue this with them until we are bluer in the face, or we can turn their argument on its head.
If this is not a Tsunami election, then the next one will be.
2008 is THE national election. The whole shooting match is up for grabs. Legislative, Executive, Judicial, all in the balance. 2006 was a good start, but in 2008 Republican Senators who got a pass for not being up in 2006 need their comeupins. The entire executive, the most in-line with Bush and G-Oil-P will be represented by a candidate who will have some connection to Bush -- if for no other reason than they are Republicans -- and will not be able to run from the Bush legacy like some of these Republicans did in the election. BTW: How come no one is going back and looking at the GOPers that managed to get elected by running FROM Bush to say that the GOP is littered with Un-Republican Republicans? Mmmmmm?
So, let's kick into high gear. Two houses do not a governing majority make. Bush will be vetoing and fund raising like a maniac for the next two years. Our system is designed to make sure that Change the Course elections are Presidential Elections, not mid-terms. So, they are right, this one is not the big one. 2008 is the big one, and now is the time to get focused, get busy and get the big enchilada: A Democratic House, Senate and White House in 2008. Nothing less will do.
