The vast majority of the country is now convinced on the futility of the Iraq war.
At least 200 more US sons and daughters (and a few thousand Iraqis) will die over the next 3 months before the Administration changes tack in Iraq - untolds scores will be injured.
Is there no way for Congress and the Administration to fast-track the entire process of swearing in new members so decisions are taken? Act to minimize this pointless carnage?
Let the measurement of drapes and office selection be secondary to the more pressing issue of saving innocent lives. Let us not wait till January '07 for Baker and Biden and others to "discuss" a plan - lock them into a conference room, I say, and keep them there till a formal "save lives" plan has been formulated.
I would even call on the nation to forego Thanksgiving and Christmas this year as our collective mark of solidarity and grief with those families that have lost loved ones and those that will likely lose theirs while Congress reconvenes in January.
Come on Kossacks - we helped change the composition of Congress - its time to DO something about saving lives too.
