We've got a lot of politics to talk about today - the amazing races we won and lost, the toppling of Rumsfeld, the upcoming battle to shape the agenda, the prospects for 2008...
Can we please take a minute to thank the service men and women, past and present, who served us in war & peace?
This holiday tends to get a little lost in the pre-holiday shuffle most years, and of course there's been a lot of other, um, well, "distractions" isn't quite right, but you know what I mean.
Today it's important for us to pause from being armchair generals and armchair quarterbacks and armchair DNC chairmen. And just say thanks to our veterans.
The men & women in Iraq and Afghanistan deserve a great deal of thanks and well-wishes. The road ahead for them is uncertain and perilous, and we must not forget them in our post-election euphoria. (Thank you for your service! You are in our thoughts & prayers!)
And thanks, too, to the other veterans now back in the US, whether they served in war or peace, whether they are Democrats or Republicans. We wish you and your families the very best on Veterans' Day. (Thank you for your service to our country!)
And a special thanks to my father (Korea), brother-in-law David (Viet Nam), and nephew Thomas (still in the Army... and soon on the way back to the Mideast). I am grateful beyond words.
