Possibly the most underreported piece of good news from last Tuesday was the victory of Democrat Jennifer Brunner in the race for Ohio Secretary of State.
What does this mean?
Well, there will be no Blackwelling of the vote in 2008. There will be someone in office dedicated to ensuring that everyone who casts a valid ballot is counted. There will be no devil in the details - no obscure provisions about using nonexistent types of paper.
Am I right?
Does taking out Blackwell and reclaiming the office help us avoid further shenanigans in Ohio? Or does the rot extend deeper than that?
Without getting into the whole Diebold question, I would definitely assert that Blackwell probably kept 10,000s of votes from being counted. Without him, might Ohio start voting more like Michigan?
