Investigators said 26-year-old Reina Lynch was shot inside the guard booth at the Beltsville distribution center early Saturday. A co-worker arriving for his shift called police just before 8 a.m. after he found Lynch suffering from a gunshot wound to her upper body. Police said that Lynch was shot at close range and appeared to have been dead for a while.
Prince George's County police said their investigation revealed that Lynch had been involved in a relationship and a child support dispute with 41-year-old Fabian Andre Shim. He was arrested on Tuesday and charged with first-degree murder.
"I hope he rots in hell," said Lynch's mother, Marlyn Evans.
She said Shim had threatened Lynch in court when Lynch was trying to get child support payments.
He threatened her in COURT. After reading through the online maryland state code, I found that it is not a crime in Maryland to threaten to kill someone.
Another woman in maryland was threatened by her ex that he would "burn her like crisco". Her name is Yvette Cade. Several days after Roger Hargrave - her now ex-husband - threatened her, he followed through. She survived but has gone through dozens of reconstructive surgeries for the burns that covered most of her body.
PRINCE GEORGE'S County's most infamous case of domestic violence may be that of Yvette Cade, set afire by her estranged husband after a protective order was wrongly dismissed. Yet another case haunts the county, too: the tragedy of Jackie M. Lewis, murdered by her boyfriend even though there was no comparable mistake in procedure

The procedure is flawed. Just like the bad guys in movies, these scumbags are usually just following through on previously made threats. They are emboldened by the lack of laws in maryland that give them a sense of entitlement after the police tell a frightened woman that threats against her life are a civil matter, to be handled at the courts earliest convienence. This can change. Marylands own neighbor has an answer.
11 Del. C.§ § 621 Terroristic threatening; class G felony; class A misdemeanor; penalties.
(a) A person is guilty of terroristic threatening when he or she commits any of the following:
(1) The person threatens to commit any crime likely to result in death or in serious injury to person or property;
Most of Maryland's state legislature are Democrats. If you live in Maryland please click here to find your state senator and let them know that threatening to kill someone if left unchecked, usually leads to the victim being killed. Making a threat on someone's life a crime will give police the ability to lock up (and perhaps make them realize that they are NOT entitled to abuse) people who after they've made these sick promises, have a high rate of following through.
For those of you who are not residents of Maryland, (perhaps in DC or VA and sickened by the news lately) but would, as progressives like to contact a Maryland state senator, here is an abbreviated list of Dem senators in the area of the killings.
