It Just came out that Rove may be leaving the White House. ( This on the heels of Rumsfeld's Retirement, and I'm staring at the disintegration of what seemed to be four peas in a pod, birds of a feather, bffs, if you will.
(sorry i dont know how to link things. The Rove Story is here http://www.dailykos.com/...)
So the dream team is breaking up, which is wonderful for us, but has to be scary as hell for the everyday joe republican. I mean, these guys were a force of nature, and now its gone.
This coherence went so far that for a while now I've been describing these guys as 'The (dung) Beatles.' Four guys ready to revolutionize the world, but instead of peace, love, and rock & roll, they were...war, greed, and brush clearing. Different medium, same story.
They knew what an impact they were having too. Rumsfeld was definitely the George Harrison of the Bunch. He wrote the songs (wars) that the fans really got into, the more experimental side. And, Lead guitar goes hand in hand with Secretary of Defense, doesn't it? Think about it, he's not the main guy, but he's a big deal, and they wouldn't (won't) be shit without him.
Cheney is the Paul Mccartney of the bunch. He's not always on top, but a lot of the times he is. he's got a good amount of previous experience, and he does a good {ok, not good, efficient} job of following Johnny boy.
Bush is Ringo. Its all he can be.
That leaves John Lennon and...Karl Rove. The most beautiful soul in the 20th century, and the most vile one in this century (hopefully, the millennium). He's the man in charge when push comes to shove, he's got the ideas, he's the one really into the drugs (power), he's the mastermind. But Rove has his Yoko Ono, too. She's just called the fundamentalist right this time around. And the people are tired of her , she's breaking up the band.
So the band may be able to go on without Rumsfeld/Harrison, but if Rove/Lennon is gone...Its just not anywhere near the same sound anymore. The members may still make music, in some form or other, but they won't be nearly as successful, or garner near the amount of attention, that they once did. And what's left for what's left of the dung beatles? trying to sell us songs that we've all heard a million times already? fading into obscurity? Can these guys really do anything near the same magnitude they did when they were a full band? This is a brighter time than the one we were leaving, as the purveyors of worldwide evil are shattered, now into three pieces. Maybe Impeachment will force them to give up the whole gig completely.
<Update:> for those who asked, I've changed the title and parts of the diary to say "dung" beatles instead of "evil beatles"
