First time diary, hope I do this right.
Hat tip for this diary to TVNewser which is the place to get all the news about the news. The site is addictive...
The good news is that Countdown with Keith Olbermann is taking off in the ratings, thanks in large part (imo) to word-of-mouth generated by DailyKos, Crooks & Liars, YouTube, Raw Story, etc.
Before he hit his stride, KO would typically get ratings in the 400K range with a demo rating of 150K, good for 3rd or 4th place and nothing to holler about.
But then KO found his voice and ran with it unashamed, and the results are obvious: People are tuning in. He started October out with a bang and ended October with an even bigger bang. Viewership has nearly doubled in the course of two months. I believe his rating on 10/31 is a record for his show. He's still pretty far behind BillO, but he now regularly outpaces both CNN and Headline News, and he's closing the gap on The Factor
The point of the diary: Keep spreading the word. TiVo his show if you don't already (I do). Post a bulletin on your blog/MySpace featuring a YouTube clip of one of his Special Comments. I would love to see him get over the 1Million mark in viewers. It would send shockwaves through Cable News industry, and it would prove that all news analyst personalities do not have to be conservative in order to attract an audience. Besides, we need him now more than ever.
