Earlier today I jumped over to YouTube to view and favorite a few Dem videos, in response to a plea from a long lost diary. While doing this, I came across a 10 minute clip from "Why We Fight", a documentary I've been wanting to see for some time.
It's a very damning indictment of the Bush administration and their manipulating public opinion to take us to war. A short overview of their cynical setup of memes that would allow them to invade Iraq, even though the people that attacked us on 9/11 were in Afghanistan.
And I could marry Karen Kwiatkowski. She is a true stud, absolutely forthright, with an intelligence that cuts right to the chase. God, I love that woman. Quotes and a link to e-mail to wavering voters on the flip..
The video is here:
http://www.youtube.com/... You should be able to cut and paste the link if by chance you want to email it to a voter you know.
Soundbites:
Karen K: "I...retired from the military after 20 years...in the Pentagon...I became a political/military affairs officer...things were strange from the very beginning of my assignment. Within a week or so it became clear to me that war was going to happen...it was just a matter of bringing the American people up to speed and getting them behind this effort.
William Kristol, PNAC: "..we argued for elements of the Bush Doctrine before it became the Bush Doctrine..."
Karen K:"The Office of Special Plans had one primary job, and that was to produce a set of talking points on the tpoic of Iraq, WMD and terrorism, and we were to use them in any document that we prepared, exactly as they were written, in their entirety...[these talking points were] designed to convince the reader that Iraq, and Saddam Hussein specifically, constituted a major, serious, terrible, evil threat to not just his neighbors but the United States.
Dick Cheney: "There is no doubt that Saddam Hussein now has weapons of mass destruction."
Don Rumsfeld: "The United States knows that Iraq has weapons of mass destruction. The UK knows that they have weapons of mass destruction. Any country on the face of the Earth with an active intelligence program knows that these guys have weapons of mass destruction.
President Bush: "I have great respect for the media...I also understand that a lot of times there are opinions mixed in with the news."
Tony Snow, FOX NEWS: "We won't disagree with that."
This clip is well worth sending to those on the fence. Repugs speaking words on video that are so blatantly false, and have cost thousands of live, are simply powerful.
