Of all the great moments on election night, my favorite has to be watching the desperate Michael Barone as he tried to cobble together a county-by-county scenario by which Mike Steele could win the Maryland Senate race. As he flailed away, Brit Hume delivered the bad news:
"Mike, Mike, I'm sorry to cut you off. As much as we appreciate the exercise, it looks like we are ready to declare Ben Cardin the winner." What followed was the solemn stare of a defeated Barone. Classic
Anyone else have a moment to share?
Update [2006-11-29 17:58:6 by RandyMI]:
I should mention a moment from the evening on November 8. I was standing in a little restaurant called Jasime's Cafe in San Francisco. I was waiting for my cheeseburger and fries to go when they announced on CNN that James Webb was OFFICIALLY declared the winner by the Associated Press. I pumped my fist and let out a great big "YESSSS" not aware, or caring about the staring customers, or the dejected face of what must have been a Republican (tourist of course) sitting in the corner.
