So I'm sittin' here watching Tucker Carlson for some reason and he has this guy on from something called the "Foundation for Democracy in Iran", which was way to reminiscent of the inside joke in Syrianna. I think the dude's name was Timmerman.
Anyway, here goes Tucker asking about Ahmadinejad's new letter the American people and you get this insane person quoting the letter. I don't have the transcript yet, but he takes a part where Ahmadinejad says that Bush is being deceitful, etc with the American people with regards to middle east policy. Fairly innocuous, not to mention true, but here goes this looney "interpreting" what the Iranian is saying. He claims that this is all code for "I want to convert you to Islam or I will kill you all". Seriously, he said that.
So how does Tucker respond? He nods sagely as if thanking this nutjob for his wise counsel and proceeds to the next question, which in turn led to further ridiculous assertions about what it all means more at home on a SNL sketch than a news network.
Nevermind the fact that later he had on Christopher Hitchens, who, while clearly intelligent, has some sort of profound mental block when it comes to our relations with the Islamic world. He went off on his usual nutty rant about Iraq and Iran.
Overall, a very bad night for the network.
Shame on you Tucker.
