As we head toward November 7th there are some very specific things you can do to make sure that your vote WILL count.
With Republican desperation running rampant it's hard to know to what new depths voter fraud will sink. So here is some practical advice in case you feel you are in jeopardy of losing your vote.

1. Call your county election board before election day and make sure you are registered.
2. If you encounter long lines at your polling place take your complaint to a poll worker. Their job is to help you vote. If they won't help you, get their name. And then use the toll-free election hotline 1-866-OUR VOTE
3. If your voting machine doesn't work properly demand an EMERGENCY PAPER BALLOT---not a PROVISIONAL BALLOT!! And then demand that the offending machine be taken out of service.
4. Remember to use the whistleblower's hotline number if necessary: 1-888-VOTETIP....and remember that you can create a photographic record on your cell phone. Or bring your camcorder into the voting booth if you feel the need.
Make sure your vote counts. Raise a ruckus if you feel something is wrong. As I've always cautioned my children: "Use your intuition...if something doesn't seem right, then it probably isn't right."
