The latest good news from the hotly contested race in the eighth district of Michigan is that there's no news at all. According to people on the ground, Mike Rogers has spent in excess of 30,000 dollars on polling data that he refuses to release. Why is this good news? It means he doesn't like what he's seeing.
The movement on the ground in the Marcinkowski vs Rogers race (and other Congressional races in MI) has been very positive despite the lack of attention paid to these critical races in the Midwest. Roger's lack of willingness to release the results of his polls should be case point number one to anyone who knows anything about running a campaign.
One must ask oneself: what are the honchos at the national level not understanding. Rest assured, they have this information you're reading right now, yet, choose to blow millions in races where media is ungodly expensive when their efforts should be focused on GOTV. What are they afraid of? Could it perhaps be the fact that Marcinkowski has chosen to defend the working people in his district by stating that he will oppose trade agreements that have wreaked havoc in not only Michigan, but other Midwest states as well?
Case in point. New Democrats, for some reason or other, seem to like these damaging trade agreements that have decimated the middle class, the auto industry and small businesses in the Midwest even when they have all been presented with unrefutable evidence of the effects their failed economic trade policies have on the industrial sector of our economy. Did Marcinkowski's stance against failed trade policies offend Ellen Tauschers buddies on Wall Street and in Hollywood? Are lobbyists for investment bankers on K Street telling the powers that be to let viable progressive candidates in the Midwest wither on the vine so their corporate agenda isn't endangered? These are questions we need to seriously ask ourselves before 08. Some may call this "eating their young". I call it protecting progressive values.
So, seeing as it's too late for media money for these hard working people who have given their frickin lives over the past 2, 3, 6 months to stand up for what's right, what progressives believe and for the common good of our country- let's give them some money for one hell of a party to show our gratitude for their efforts in these winnable districts. This is not an admission of defeat by any means, this is what progressives do- we take care of those who work hard to promote a better life for us and our children.
Help them celebrate their effort by going to http://vote-jim.com/ to say thanks, and we'll see you in 08 when we're defending this seat for Marcinkowski and working hard to put a progressive in the White House.
