Is anyone else feeling the drain of this election cycle? The stress is getting to me. Am I doing a Vincent D'Onofrio (who I admire greatly, btw) or am I just a wimp?
I am so saturated with political input, output, throughput and shotput that my body is finally asking for a break, shortly after my mind started demanding old black-and-white Hollywood dramas to take the place of hectoring TV voices and blogosphere rantings. Is it just me?
I think we all need to take a slow, meditative soak in essential-oil and sea-salt infused water, listen to our favorite old music and just forget the election for a few hours. Anyone with me?
No doubt we will bound forth, charged with even more enthusiasm and wild-eyed vigor after such a retreat. Hell, you may even channel Deepak Chopra or Tony Robbins if you relax enough.
I somehow doubt that our good friends on the other side--I do mean the Republicans, not the dead, though that is another argument--are doing this form of retreat. After all, that would be cutting and running, which is something my tailor did when his wife caught him with the dry cleaner's wife. No, the conservatives are drinking bourbon or mojitos, smirking over bland eggs and white bread, predictable flower arrangements and bad fashion choices. But you know, they do clip coupons from the Sunday inserts. I've seen it done personally.
As for me, it's an hour under the down comforter and said soak and music. Cheers, fellow malcontents.
