It is certainly a blow to the Christian right-Republican nexus that a leader of the former has been exposed as a hypocrite where the homophobic moral code is concerned.
Wikipedia reports that Haggard is (or was?) a member of the Center for National Policy.

You will remember that the CNP is the secretive inner-party which allows the religious right, the corporate right, and Republican opeatives to coordinate strategy.
