We are going forward with an historic victory in the House, with a wonderful group of new Democrats.
Let's do all we can to keep them on board - to ensure that they last past the inevitable GOP vindictive campaign in 2008.
Let's ponder the ways we can be a big tent party - the ways that progressives and heartland moderates can work together.
The Heath Shulers, Harry Mitchells, Baron Hills, and Nancy Boydas will represent districts with a fairly conservative vein. Let's pledge to be responsive to their perspectives and concerns. Our party will thrive as a big tent, which finds issues that unite our core areas and those we've just gained.
This post is written in euphoria, but I hope we can work through this question in full sobriety from today (Wednesday) onward.
