The networks have already called Florida's 13th District for Republican Vern Buchanan, but it looks like a
recount is inevitable:
SARASOTA -- Republican Vern Buchanan's 368-vote win over Democrat Christine Jennings in the 13th Congressional District is headed for a recount.
Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Kathy Dent confirmed at a Wednesday press conference that elections officials are expecting a manual recount.
A timeline for the recount process means the final tally wouldn't be completed until Nov. 18, Dent said.
Additionally, as the Moritz Law blog points out, there are at least five House races that are in the "margin of litigation," meaning the vote gap is equal to or less than 1%: CT-02, FL-13, NM-01, PA-08, and WY-AL. Democrats lead in CT-02 and PA-08.
Update: Automatic recount triggered in CT-02.
Update II: Ballots are still being counted in NM-01.
Fitzpatrick concedes in Pa-08. Hello, Congressman Murphy!
In OH-02, Democrat Victoria Wulsin isn't giving up yet. From a statement via email:
Cincinnati, OH – "This election is by no means over," said Victoria Wulsin today about her race for Congress against Jean Schmidt. "Thousands of absentee and provisional ballots have yet to be counted. Until all the votes are counted, this race continues."
