I've been around dKos for a while, and I know the rules, but I've got to vent here; this is more of an open threader, but there are no recent open threads. This is a rant. On Hardball, John Edwards had it going - Tweetie being kind, UNC Chapel Hill cheering big time, the whole enchilada.
Then Tweetie asked him "What are the American people looking for (in a candidate)?"
Edwards' answer? "Optimism and vision".
AAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!
HONESTY! We want HONESTY! We can make up our own minds and save this nation if we KNOW what the situation is!
Anyone out there want cheery when we're collapsing? Anyone out there want reassurance when the sky is falling? Who wants their hand held when their hand could be acting? People are dying, in large numbers, as a result of the horrible, predictable actions of our government, and we want optimism?
I like Edwards, he grew up in the same sitch I did. Blue-collar, hard work, lucky neurons, good time for studenting - now it's changed. Now I'm very disappointed in Edwards, and I can't believe that his approach to the Presidency is going to be so banal, so campaigned, so researched. This is not a time for "optimism", folks. This is a time for action based on a fair assessment of the situation.
Are we or are we not the reality-based community? Those of you with connections to the Edwards campaign please express the reality to them - I like "Sunny John".
There is far too much calculation in the Ds now, and far too little gut check. Check your guts, candidates '08, and check back with me in '07.
Sorry for the content faux pas, but I'm steamed that a Dem candidate would so foul up a great opportunity.
