The "vlog" is at MLW where it can be embedded.
I hate the framing of the term "electability"... for one, "electable" candidates don't actually win, I find that a problem.
In summary I think that electability is an despicable smear used by conservatives Democrats to criticize much more inspiring idealists and progressives.
I created a video log to that affect a day or so ago and I wanted to share it.
I really think I may prefer this video logging. I'm not sure, I like writing a lot, but also, much communication online that I've taken part in was in text because there was no choice.
There is the question of "why would anyone want to watch a video with your opinion in it"... well, the answer to that is easy... "I don't know" and "I can't argue they should" but that is the same answer as why would they want to read an essay or diary by me either. This disregard for the audience may show... for which I apologize, I figure I'm sharing ideas however, and that alls fair. I want your ideas, so I do not have to worry if you want mine, and of course, it's nice then to subsequently discover those that can find productive dialog as a result of sharing opinion in an initially unilateral way. (i.e. I'd be really pleased to see other MLWer get youtube accounts and post a video response to me on this or any other log, though I'm not inclined to press to hard that anyone should do it, it's unilateral and personal by nature, of course. Many that like the written word will not be inclined to use this visual space in a similar way).
Insofar as trying to be clear and provide solutions in my messages, to provide ideas ready made, answers instead of my usual focus on questions... I probably do that better in video, really, because of the nature of how it's produced. At youtube you can record video responses and I suspect as that gets easier to do that it will become more conversational again.
(Youtube now provides a way to record the video right through the browser via a web page, many steps easier than recording yourself and uploading it as a response.)
The bottom line then, clearly has nothing to do with "why would people consume this content" the real bottom line is it's fun. The question is only "why do you have this idea" and perhaps, if you want, "why do you share it"... the answer "for feedback and also... to see for myself what my ideas are. When you commit yourself to an idea, you suddenly have to compare that position to reality, over time you see how it falls short and needs improvement which by then you are as a result prepared to provide. ("progress")
In some cases I feel I can actually get to the nugget of my point best in video, and that it takes less time to do so, why I like or don't like something, why I feel more people should feel or act a certain way, in those cases where I have such judgment.
Having said that, you know you didn't have to read all this to just watch the vlog, right?
cheers.
