I'm back! and so glad to be back. It has been a stormy and difficult couple of weeks. Last week my cable was out. I couldn't even communicate with my KosArt compatriots, because I had no e-mail service. With holiday projects, like stirring up batches of sugared nuts, I was nearly too busy to recognize the symptoms of Daily Kos withdrawl. But I do have a
Saturday Morning Political Cartoon, welcoming in the New Years we will begin with the 110th Congress.. Make the leap and witness the passing of the staff of power.
From the Hypocritter (the mascot of the Neocon HypoChristy Party) to the new Democratic Party Representatives. Let's make certain there is no Hanky Panky between the Neocons and Democrats, that breeds another Hypocritter.
As long as we stay involved, and inform our representatives we may have some very happy new years to come.
Now here's the simple and delicious recipe for sugared nuts I stirred up. This will make a great snack to offset the celebratory toasts at New Year's parties:
Sugared nuts
Set two racks in middle of oven.
Preheat the oven to 300 degrees
Grease two cookie sheets (that have sides)
Separate the whites from two organic eggs into a large bowl. Beat the whites until frothy.
Add about eight cups of your choice of nuts..
pecans, cashews, almonds and or peanuts, all work nicely
Stir until coated
In another bowl or big measuring cup, Mix two cups of light brown sugar, with one teaspoon of sea salt, and one teaspoon of water.
Add salted sugar to the coated nuts and stir well.
Spread sugared nuts between the two cookie sheets, and put one sheet of nuts on each rack. Bake for 30 to 45 minutes.
Stir every 15 minutes, and rotate the sheets from one rack to the other with each stirring. Remove from oven when nuts are lightly browned. Stir again a couple of times as the nuts cool. pour into
To make the nuts extra salty, sprinkle with extra sea salt, just when you remove the nuts from the oven.
Enjoy!
