It's getting late, and shortly the east coast will be the first Americans to usher in the New Year of 2007.
In the mid-West, they will follow shortly, and in just under five hours my area (west coast) will say goodbye to 2006 and hello to 2007.
It's been quite a year for us Kossacks. I don't pretend to be as wise as teacherken or many others, but for any who are logging tonight before or during the turning of the New Year, this is for everyone!
It is simply amazing the year we have had. The best moment for me was the final realization we had made history in winning the House and the Senate. It was a warm, toasty feeling to know that my personal feelings of angst and frustration with the course of our country were mirrored by millions of voters on November 7th. Now, 2007 and the 110th Congress's actions will be something to watch.
In addition, my own personal life has had quite a few major changes, and I will always look back at 2006 in awe of all the good (and not so good) things that have made it memorable.
Here are a few of my resolutions:
- I resolve to love my family and friends more than last year.
- I resolve to show more charity and caring for the less fortunate.
- I resolve to finally quit smoking - even if it takes the patch or something!!!
- I resolve to support my newly elected congressman Jerry McNerney with my support and I will keep voicing my opinions to him on the hope he will become a stellar example of the new type of Democrat we all elected in 2006.
- I resolve to support my Democratic senators, Barbara Boxer and Diane Feinstein, to lead the new Senate in wisdom and freedom from past mistakes.
- I resolve to support Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid in their (hopefully) united wisdom leading the Congress. I also resolve to be vocal to their offices when I think they need "advice". :)
- I resolve to never forget each of the 3,000 lives (and counting unfortunately) lost in the insane Iraq War.
- I resolve to stay out of the 2008 hopefuls' mudslinging contest.
- I resolve to support the Democratic party in general and in actions, financial and otherwise, as the best hope for our country's future.
So, fellow Kossacks, put aside your differences and post your resolutions!!!
