As in May and July I will accompony kos' straw poll and fantasy straw poll with the 3rd installment of the Fantasy Straw Poll - Female Edition.
There has only been a woman on the ticket in 1984 (Geraldine Ferraro). It's time for another run in 2008.
Who would you like to see on the ticket (either for President or Vice President) in 2008? Find the list below the fold.
I'm limited to 15 candidates (as no more can be featured in one poll). The last two polls featured the same slate of candidates. I've now had a feel for who you like and who not so much. Therefore, I will drop 5 names this time and add 5 new ones. The names dropped will be the bottom 4 vote getters from the last two polls combined and Rep. Louise Slaughter. While the Congresswoman is a sentimental favourite of mine DavidNYC pointed out in the comments that she would be almost 80 in 2009.
Therefore, Louise Slaughter, Shirley Franklin, Stephanie Herseth, Blanche Lincoln, and Debbie Stabenow will not be featured in this poll. They can, of course be renominated and featured again in a later poll.
Here are the top ten vote getters from the last two rounds (in alphabetical order):
Tammy Baldwin, Representative (WI)
Barbara Boxer, Senator (CA)
Hillary Clinton, Senator (NY)
Barbara Lee, Representative (CA)
Patty Murray, Senator (WA)
Janet Napolitano, Governor (AZ)
Nancy Pelosi, Representative (CA)
Loretta Sanchez, Representative (CA)
Kathleen Sebelius, Governor (KS)
Stephanie Tubbs Jones, Representative (OH)
Here's the list of new candidates added to the poll:
Robin Carnahan, Secretary of State (MO)
Denise Nappier, State Treasurer (CT)
Jeanne Shaheen, former Governor (NH)
Hilda Solis, Representative (CA)
Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Representative (FL)
Before you vote, I'd like to remind you that this is a fantasy straw poll. I tried to offer you a wide variety of women to choose from. Vote for the one you would truly like to see on the Democratic ticket in 2008.
Enjoy!
