Early next year - the Bush administration will request another
100 billion dollars for the War in Iraq increasing the total cost to a whopping 500 billion dollars.
It appears that the Democratically controlled congress will grant this funding.
Dems Warn Bush on Iraq Funding
Now that the Republicans have made such a big show of a new Defense Secretary, and the heralded 79 point bipartisan Iraq study group plan - How can the Democrats say no to another 100 billion dollars? Like so -
Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, passed out a seven-page paper to his colleagues calling on them to vote against future funds for Iraq as a way to end the war. "The American people will have trouble understanding any of us who say we oppose the war and simultaneously vote to fund it," he said.
At least there will be some long overdue oversight and restrictions on how the money is spent -
Murtha, who will chair the military appropriations subcommittee when the Democrats take control Jan. 4, promised vigorous oversight of how money for Iraq is spent.
"Stay tuned," Pelosi said. "Democrats are now in the majority. . . . There will be hearings. There will be oversight. We will not abdicate our responsibility."
Please join me in keeping a close watch on this 100 Billion dollars that our congress is about to appropriate to improve the situation in Iraq.
My guess is that this will be another 100 Billion that may as well be flushed down the toilet. Actually - Flushing it down a toilet would be a better choice because the more we spend in Iraq the more we have to spend in Iraq. No amount of money can change the fact that this administration is clueless. I would be furious except that I have totally run out of fury after 4 years of infuriation.
Let's just see what we get for this 100 or was it 125 Billion.
