I am not afraid.
Osama bin Laden has no grip on me, I do not fear him. I do not fear terrorists, in general. I am not worried for my family, I am not worried that I am going to be bombed riding a bus, or sitting in a movie theater. The Bush Administration, Republican Party, Christian Right and Corporate Lobbyists of the world can say and do nothing that will increase my resolve to stand in the face of "Terror," and be unthwarted.
I do not fear walking in "Bad neighborhoods." I do not fear, when I turn on the ignition of my car, that I am going to get into an accident, or be hit by a drunk driver. I do not fear getting shot in a drive-by. Each of these things has more potential to do me harm than any terrorist does.
This is something that really amuses me. Here I am, in what used to be the greatest country in the world, and every day I'm staring at frightened people who claim to be strong on everything like defense and security and shit. What a bunch of pussies. We've managed to elect a chickenshit loser as President of the United States of America twice. Well, that's actually debatable, but you get my point.
Bush represents all that is wrong with America to me. He doesn't travel for leisure, his mother is a racist and elitist hag, all the people who work for him are essentially criminals as far as I can tell - the guy isn't smart, can't speak publicly, is uneducated, uncultured and basically has no tolerance for other points of view, and no respect for people and cultures that are different from him. Watching him address the world community is like watching a big-haired, trailer-living, white tourist demean a waiter in Mexico, threatening to take away the 4% tip they were leaving because he didn't treat her like the princess of Monte Carlo (even though she couldn't point out Monte Carlo on a map).
I am not afraid.
What is really entertaining to me is that so many people are buying the con. 9/11 was horrible, and there were reasons why we were attacked by terrorists on that day. Folks have forgotten that terrorism has goals, and America's response to the terror attacks of 9/11 have validated those goals perfectly. What a bunch of dupes.
Dear America, Osama bin Laden is kicking our asses, and he has been victorious. Don't you get it? Every time you board an airplane and think of that day, you validate the assholes that did this to us. Congratulations, your fear feeds into what the terrorists are trying to do.
Me? I'm not afraid. I am pissed, however, that people like you think that my civil liberties are free for the taking. I'm a card carrying member of the ACLU, I support the Electronic Frontier Foundation and I don't give a fuck about your reasons for supporting illegal wireless eavesdropping and the plethora of other civil rights abuses that your dumbfuck president has decided are necessary to protect you from your own fear. Here's a novel concept...don't be afraid. It's pretty simple. If you're not afraid, then that much power is taken away from the people who get away with trying to cause you fear.
I am not afraid.
