The new modus operandi of BushCo is "Scandal Fatigue". If the public's attention is allowed to dwell on a single scandal long enough, they will eventually see through the "it's a partisan issue" smokescreen and realize the American public as a whole is being wronged. But if you keep presenting something new, it dissipates the impact and allows the public's discontent to be diffused and redirected. I remember saying a year ago to one of my neighbors "you watch, the outing a Valerie Plame will be a big deal that will unseat the Bush Administration." I honestly believed it too, I was caught up in "Fitzmas" just like everyone here was. It's informative to look back retrospectively and see how the public interest in that has passed in light of all the other Scandals: Katrina, Abramoff, NSA wiretaps, Abu Gharib redux, etc... (a very long list, you get the point) and of course, the least important, but noisiest...Daktari Cheney.
What seems worse is that the wheels of justice move at a glacial pace relative to the terms of a presidency. The act of delaying and obfuscating investigations has become an art at BushCo:
I. Phase II of the Iraq Intel Investigation...Roberts is working on that one
II. Katrina Teleconference between Bush, Chertoff, and Brown..can't find it
III. Cheney's emails to Libby...woops, executive privilege
IV. Bush and Abramoff...can't seem to find those pics
V. Gonzalez's emails regarding wiretapping...deleted by mistake
VI. 9/11 committee's recommendations....shhhh!
VII. Am I starting to flog a dead horse at this point?
I'm convinced at this point that this is a strategy for them at this point: keep the public off balance with the pure scope and number of misdeeds and people will lose interest in trying to keep up with the follow through. God forbid another bombing here in the US or our impending invasion of Iran, as that will even further shroud all these previous digressions in a cloud of media noise...
So my question for you Kossacks is:
How can we pin these clowns down on one single crime/transgression that we can totally galvanize the masses around and pound BushCo into the ground? A bizarre amount of people seemed enthralled by a "stained blue dress" not so long ago......
On a side note, I have an analogy for BushCo:
They are a bunch of frat boys on Spring Break who just Ruh'fied the girl whose hotel suite they are in, date-raped her, drank the liquor cabinet, threw the TV out the window, and punched holes in the walls. They know they won't get in any real trouble (they aren't going to come clean) and they know somebody else like the girl's parents will pay for the damage, but they will have their way and nothing you could do was going to stop them.... (for those not adept at analogies, we are the girl and her parents). In the end, they got the "experience" they wanted and everybody else be damned.
