The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, a fair (actually quite good) newspaper in a land 'o growing rednecks (i.e. Rick Santorum, Melissa Hart, etc.),
published an article out of Philly today. The interesting thing is, in the land of Steelers, if Swanny wins the votes it'll be simple proof how totally stupid people are. They won't be voting for this talking head for any other reason than he was a Steeler!! I grew up thinking Pittsburgh was a Democratic town, but I'm here to tell ya, it ain't so no mo.'
So here's the "chosen" Republican candidate for guv who's only public credits appear to be a friggin Super Bowl ring. wohooee!
"Republican gubernatorial hopeful Lynn Swann didn't vote in 20 of the state's 36 elections in the past 18 years, a newspaper reported today, citing voting records from his home county."
So, a potential public figure with so much obvious respect for political office, couldn't get off his healthy ass to vote. Another flip-flopper, just like Ricky S.? Republicans just got a way with words and actions, and little of it good.
"In an October 2004 interview with the Sun-Sentinel newspaper in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Mr. Swann had said, "I have always been someone to believe that when you have certain freedoms, you should exercise them and not take it for granted. If you don't take part in the process and you don't vote, then I am not willing to listen to your complaints."
So the Republicans, those proud supporters of Slick Rick, gotta go to Steeler loyalty to offer up competition for guv.
"Mr. Swann didn't vote at all in 2003, the newspaper said."
It's obvious that Lynn, while looking towards a career in public service, really took his rights and freedoms seriously. Can't wait to hear his deep thoughts about those freedoms now that we know how much he really cares.
"The elections Mr. Swann missed included votes for governor, U.S. senator and president, and 13 of his own party's primaries, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported...Gov. Ed Rendell, who will face Mr. Swann in November, hasn't missed voting in an election at least back to 1980, the Inquirer said. Mr. Rendell's campaign declined to comment in detail on those Mr. Swann missed.
Maybe Swanny'll forget to vote for himself!
