Of all the absurd political realities that we live under during the Bushista tribulation, the one that is hardest to swallow because it's so laughably out in the open and beyond question, is the fact the Vice President Cheney -- the minister of mayhem -- has an active and ongoing interest in a company that continues to profit hugely from conducting this war of choice.
It is this fact that I find most discouraging -- how the mainstream media can allow this to happen without calling Cheney's ongoing warmongering into question. Are we at a point where all we can do is accept the fact that the Vice President of the United States is personally profiting from the ongoing chaos in Iraq, and has no motivation to see it end? Moreover, it benefits him no end if we turn our attention to Iran and widen the scope of military operations. Being the drum major for perma-war suits his interests just fine, and for perpetuity.
Tom Turnispeed took this on in "Common Dreams" last year, and Raw Story likewise cited an attack launched by New Jersey Senator Lautenburg. But the US mainstream media hasn't touched this. I only wonder why.
I think this is a moral issue. I think that Cheney is demonstrably immoral for holding on to shares in a company that he oversaw; a company that on his watch transformed from a sleepy oil drilling equipment company to a full-service outsourced infrastructure and logistics company for the military. Think about it. When I do, all I want to do is scream. How about you?
