Several caveats are first needed for this, but the following is a summary of the information we are tracking at the
Ohio Voter Suppression News:
Caveat #1 - the big, urban counties have yet to report their provisional totals.
Caveat #2 - there seems to be fairly widespread difference in how counties are evaluating their provisionals.
Caveat #3 - the increases (or decreases) are based on comparing the "official" new county totals with the unofficial totals reported to SOS Blackwell's office on Nov. 2.
Caveat #4 - the changes include some "recounting" that was required in Sandusky and Harrison Counties where results from some precincts were counted twice. Therefore, even after the provisional ballots were added to these counties totals, the numbers for Bush and Kerry actually decreased.
So, the results after 37 out of 88 counties is as follows:
Bush +12,052
Kerry +8,062
So far, the counties are allowing approximately 78% of the provisionals to be counted. This ranges from a low of 58% in Belmont Co., to a high of 98% in Monroe Co.
How does this compare to the Nov. 2 totals? Currently the vote is split 60% Bush, 40% Kerry. This is slightly better than the 62.5-37.5 split that occurred in these same 33 counties in the Nov. 2 balloting.
