Last night I went to bed wondering just why Bush was so ultra-quick to pull the trigger on threatening a veto. There had to be a reason I said to myself. Before dozing off I realized that this was not a `deal' that took place between Britain and the UAE and was subsequently approved in 25 days by a rubber stamp group of people in our government. I thought this just had to be a deal we were in on from the start that without our blessings would have never gone through.
So I decided to do a little research in the morning and see what I could dig up.
See What I found...
Well as usual David Sirota, investigate reporter extraordinaire, thankfully already had the answer waiting for me in my inbox.
The dirty little secret is that the Bush administration is in the middle of a two-year push to ink a corporate-backed "free" trade accord with the UAE. Yup! We should have known that we should just follow the money.
I am in a bit of a rush this morning so I will not copy/paste [Sirota's findings http://www.workingforchange.com/... here] but please go read what he has discovered along with other supporting links he provides that help make his case.
Also read this companion article by him that explains even more.
